Stalin takes a dig at Panneerselvam

November 16, 2014 01:10 pm | Updated 01:10 pm IST - MADURAI:

“Even O. Panneerselvam may not know who is the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu….” was how the DMK treasurer M.K. Stalin reacted to media persons’ queries here on Saturday.

There appeared to be a freeze in the government’s functioning, which was not a good sign. It was evident from the manner in which the government under Mr. Panneerselvam was functioning, he said.

There was already a decline in industrial investments and rise in unemployment. It was more for the people to take a call on it, said Mr. Stalin.

On fishermen issue, Mr. Stalin said the party president M. Karunanidhi had already thanked the Modi government for having initiated the release of the five fishermen who were slapped with the death penalty.

In the larger interest of fishermen, the Centre should look for a permanent solution, which alone would instil confidence in fishermen and clear the impasse.

Mr. Stalin was here to enquire about the health of a party functionary, who was convalescing in a private hospital.
