The stage II cyclone dome has been raised at Pamban port near here following the warning issued by the Meteorological Department about the formation of cyclone near Orissa-Bengal Coast in the Bay of Bengal.

Port authorities said on Friday dome was raised to inform the fishermen that it was not advisable to venture into the sea.

If they wanted to go for fishing, they need to be careful in the sea in view of the warning. The velocity of wind would also be strong for the next couple of days, they added.

They said the stages of the warning dome would be changed depending upon the cyclone movement.

However, there would not be much problem for shallow water fishing taken up by the country boat fishermen, as they would fish in just 3 or 4 km from seashore.
