Special trains to Rameswaram

The trains will stop at Manamadurai, Paramakudi, Ramanathapuram, Manamadurai, Mandapam, and Pamban in both directions.

The Southern Railway has announced special trains which will ply from Madurai to Rameswaram on Thursday to clear the rush of passengers and facilitate travel for more people who will attend the funeral of former President of India A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.

The special train will leave Madurai at 7.30 a.m. and will reach Rameswaram at 10.30 a.m. A special train will return from Rameswaram at 2 p.m. and will reach Madurai at 5 p.m. The train will have seven second class sleeper coaches, eight general second class coaches and two luggage-cum-brake vans.

The trains will stop at Manamadurai, Paramakudi, Ramanathapuram, Manamadurai, Mandapam, and Pamban in both directions.

The Southern Railway will also augment a pair of passenger trains running between Madurai and Rameswaram. Train Number 56723 Madurai – Rameswaram Passenger leaving Madurai at 06.55 a.m. on Thursday to reach Rameswaram at 10.35 a.m. will have four general second class coaches and one luggage-cum-brake van with accommodation for the differently abled, in addition to the existing nine general second class coaches and two luggage-cum-brake vans. This was arranged to meet the additional rush of passengers.

In the return direction, Train number 56722 Rameswaram – Madurai Passenger scheduled to leave Rameswaram at 11.50 a.m. on Thursday has been rescheduled to leave at 1 p.m. and will reach Madurai before 6 p.m. This train also will have four general second class coaches and one luggage-cum-brake van.
