The Central Council for Research in Siddha (CCRS) has hand-picked two villages near Tirunelveli and Palayamkottai for organising special medical camps on Saturday and Sunday (February 25 and 26) and weekly outpatients’ section under the Centre’s ‘Swasthya Rakshan’ programme.
Under this programme, being implemented by the Ministry of AYUSH, special medical camps would be conducted at Keezhanatham Melur in Palayamkottai block and Mela Thiruvenkatanathapuram near Tirunelveli on Saturday and Sunday respectively by Siddha Medicine Research Unit.
After these special camps, Siddha Medical College would organise an outpatients’ section in these hamlets once a week on a particular day between 9 a.m. and 12 noon.
“The purpose of organising the special camps and subsequently opening weekly outpatients’ section in these two villages is to create awareness among the public of the significance of cleanliness and leading a healthy lifestyle. The visitors will be briefed about the diseases spreading in various seasons, the lifestyle to be followed for avoiding such diseases and the medical treatment available in Siddha for a range of ailments. Siddha formulations will be given free of cost to the patients,” said A. Kanagarajan, Deputy Director (Siddha).
Director of CCRS R.S. Ramasamy will formally inaugurate the special camps to be conducted on Saturday and Sunday. Principal of Government Siddha Medical College, Palayamkottai, S. Victoria, Dr. Kanagarajan and Dr. K. Sivaranjani will screen the patients.
