A special puja was organised at Sri Ramanathaswamy Temple in Rameswaram on Friday for world peace.

As many as ‘1008' vilakkus were lit on the occasion. A large number of women from different parts of the district took part in the puja organised by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Ekal Vidyalaya, Goswami Mutt, Village Temple Priests' Association and Swami Vivekananda Village Welfare Development Association.

The third corridor was brightened up when the lamps were all lit amid chanting of mantras and slogams.

Special pujas were performed to Sri Ramanathaswamy and Parvathavarthini.

A large number of devotees, who had come to Rameswaram for darshan, witnessed the event.
