Special health camps under way in Madurai

Over 110 persons have been referred for treatment under the Chief Minister's Insurance Scheme for Life Saving Treatment in the special health camps that began at the primary health centres (PHC) of the district on Thursday. The camps are to be held in 49 PHCs from May 6 to June 24.

In the camps held at the PHCs in Othakadai, M. Subbulapuram, T. Ayyankottai and Sedapatti, 340 persons with identity cards for the insurance scheme or membership of any of the workers' welfare boards were screened for various ailments. Among them, 117 were referred for treatment at the Government Rajaji Hospital here or designated private hospitals.

According to a press release from Collector C. Kamaraj, the camps will be held at PHCs as per the following schedule:

May 10: Kottampatti and Allikundam; May 13: Keezhavalavu and Thummakundu; May 14: Koodakoil and Kulamangalam; May 15: Sathankudi and Valayankulam; May 17: Melakkal and Rajakkoor; May 20: Palamedu and T. Ramanathapuram; May 21: Sekkipatti and Uthappanaickanur; May 22: Tiruvadavur and K. Nattapatti; May 24: Kanjarampettai and T. Pudupatti; May 27: Viradanur and Sakkimangalam; May 28: T. Kallupatti and Mooduvarpatti; May 29: Saptur and Thumbaipatti; May 31: Villur and Kovilpappakudi; June 3: Kallandiri and Alanganallur; June 4: Karungalakudi and Thottappanaickanur; June 5: Ezhumalai and Vellalur; June 7: Chekkanoorani and Kallikudi; June 10: Vickramangalam and Samayanallur; June 11: Kachakatti and Nagamalai Pudukottai; June 14: A. Vellalapatti and Chellampatti; June 17: Thuvariman; June 18: Therkkutheru; June 19: Thanakkankulam; June 21: Kaithari Nagar; and June 24: Tirupparankundram.
