The District Superintendent of Police V. Balakrishnan on Saturday visited the tribal colony near Perungudi and listened to their grievances.
According to a press release, there are about 250 families, who had moved into the dwellings some three months back. The colony was earmarked for the tribal population (kuravars) by the state government and the people wanted certain basic amenities to be enhanced.
At the interaction, the public wanted the mini-bus, which was now operating up to Nilayur, to be extended to their colony.
The residents, whose kids were playing kabaddi, wanted a trainer to equip in a better way. The women and elderly persons appealed to the SP to step up police vigil in their locality.
With summer set in, the womenfolk wanted saplings to be planted in their area and free books and notes for the children studying in classes 1 to 3 in the near by area.
After listening to them and going around the colony, Mr. Balakrishnan said that he would immediately step up police patrolling in the locality and assured to take up other issues with the district administration and other appropriate authorities.
