Sothuparai dam was overflowing on Tuesday morning.
With the storage level crossing the maximum level of 126.28 ft, the full inflow of 18 cusecs has been overflowing from the dam. The water level rose by a foot within 12 hours. Three cusecs have been utilised for drinking purposes.
The storage level remained static in the Periyar dam with 117.7 ft of water. The inflow into the dam was recorded at 597 cusecs and the discharge 800 cusecs.
Vaigai dam registered a marginal increase in storage which stood at 43.77 ft. Inflow was 629 cusecs and discharge 60 cusecs. Manjalar dam has 45.7 ft of water with an inflow of 26 cusecs and a discharge of eight cusecs.
The water level at Shanmuga River dam stood at 32.9 ft, with zero inflow and discharge.
Total rainfall recorded in the district was 59.8 mm and the average was 4.98 mm.
Dindigul
Many parts of the district received minor to heavy showers on Tuesday. Palani recorded 84 mm rain, the highest in the district, while the Vedasandur tobacco research station had 2.06 mm, the lowest in the district. Varadhamanadhi dam has been receiving 10 cusecs. Total rainfall recorded in the district was 130.9 mm on Tuesday morning and the average rain 13.9 mm.
