Six country-made bombs were seized at Kamatchi Garden between Vasavappapuram and Aalikudi channel under Murappanad police limits in the district on Monday. Five persons accused of possessing the bombs have been arrested.

A team led by P.K. Ravi, Inspector of Police, Murappanad arrested them after they were found moving suspiciously with the bags. According to police, the gang had made the bombs for Kutti, brother of Roopesh Babu, who was murdered on August 10 in Hosur. Kapil Kumar C. Saratkar, Superintendent of Police, and Jayakumar, DSP, Tuticorin Rural, visited the spot and carried out search operations to check whether explosives were hidden there. The arrested were V. Jayapandian (39), R. Suresh (32), V. Muthu (46), V. Singaravelu (50) of Tuticorin and Balasubramanian (51) of Anavaradhanallur near Murappanad. The police are on the search for Kutti, Nagaraj and Sethu.
