Seven suspects in police custody

A Judicial Magistrate (JM) in Madurai on Tuesday granted custody of the seven persons who surrendered in connection with the murder of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam functionary ‘Pottu’ Suresh to the police for six days.

Saba alias P. Sabarathinam (25), M. Santhanam (21), Raja alias N. Nagamurugan (25), S. Lingam (24), A. Senthil (24), M. Sekar (24) and R. Karthik (24) — all belonging to Keerathurai in Madurai surrendered at the Natham Judicial Court on Saturday claiming that they were involved in the murder of ‘Pottu’ Suresh.

Subramaniapuram police, who are investigating the case, filed a petition at the court here seeking seven-day judicial custody of the seven persons.

Judicial Magistrate IV Rajalingam granted the six- day police custody late Tuesday evening.

He directed the police to produce the seven before him on February 11.
