Members of Tamil Nadu Thodakka Kalvi Asiriyar Iyakkangalin Kootu Nadavadikkai Kuzhu on Sunday took out a rally here demanding pay parity with Central Government school teachers.

The rally, which was flagged off at Vazhi Vidumurugan Temple, wound along important streets including Vandikara Street, Salaistreet, Agraharam Street and culminated at Aranmanai, where they held a meeting.

They urged the State Government to study the pay anomaly between the teachers working in State Government-run schools and Central Government-run schools.

Difference in pay

There was a big difference in the pay structure.

The State Government should consider special grade pay for those who had completed 10 and 20 years of service.

It should also announce pension for those who had completed 20 years of service.
