Collector C. Kamaraj gave away bilingual dictionaries to school children at the adi-dravidar welfare hostel here on Wednesday.
Mr. Kamaraj exhorted the students to utilise the dictionary and improve their knowledge throughout their career. He urged them to refer the dictionary and learn a new word every day.
After handing over them to the children, he inquired with the authorities about the quality of food prepared and served to the inmates at the hostel.
Later, talking to reporters, he said that as part of corporate social responsibility, some of the public sector oil companies like Indian Oil and HPCL had come forward to participate in such ventures. The expenses incurred in the purchase of the dictionaries would be provided by the oil companies. The district administration has planned to distribute 6000 dictionaries in two phases to children studying between standard sixth and plus two in Adi-Dravida Welfare, Kallar Reclamation and backward classes hostels. Two days ago, Mr. Kamaraj had presented bins under similar programme, an official press release said.
