The stretch of Melur highway from MGR Statue in KK Nagar to the High Court Bench near Ulaganeri is now well-lit with the installation of streetlights at a cost of Rs. 95 lakh.

Corporation engineers installed over 200 lamp posts on either side of the busy five-kilometre stretch.

Mayor V.V. Rajan Chellappa switched on the lights on Friday in the presence of Corporation Commissioner R. Nanthagopal, High Court Bench Registrar Udayan and senior officials from the Corporation, according to a press release.

Later, the Mayor inspected the civil works under way at Maatuthavani Integrated Bus Stand where space had been earmarked for flower vendors.
