As part of a State-wide strike, revenue department employees abstained from work en masse on Thursday.

Official sources said that members of the Tamil Nadu Revenue Officials' Associations staged the protest against non-filling up of vacancies in many districts.

Despite repeated pleas to the government to look into their grievances, there had been no response. Hence, the decision to abstain from work on a mass scale, a member claimed and added that they might intensify the stir. Their other demands include parity in pay scale, promotion for eligible officers pending for several years.
