Rest room for crew opened in bus stand

An exclusive rest room for drivers and conductors of government buses was opened at the Mattuthavani Integrated Bus Stand in Madurai on Saturday.

Along with the rest room, the Madurai Corporation has also set up a health dispensary in the bus stand to attend to passengers in need of emergency care. The dispensary will be manned by a qualified nurse and a chemist.

It will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mayor V.V. Rajan Chellappa inaugurated the facility in the presence of Collector Anshul Mishra and Corporation Commissioner R. Nanthagopal.

According to a press release, the rest room and other new facilities were created at a cost of Rs.4.3 lakh. Also, an office for the Corporation Assistant Engineer was set up in the bus stand.

R.Annadurai, MLA (Madurai South), A. Mathuram, City Engineer in-charge, and Yasodha Mani, City Health Officer, were among those who participated in the inaugural function.
