Tension prevailed at Collector's Bungalow on the North High Ground here on Wednesday when residents of Tamil Nadu Housing Board Colony at Maharaja Nagar came in large number to submit petition to Collector R. Selvaraj demanding regular supply of drinking water.

They blocked the traffic on this busy road for a few minutes pressing their demand. However, the protest was given up after Palayamkottai Inspector of Police Francis pacified the agitators.

The protestors said their colony, having 306 houses, were getting drinking water once in ten days and the corporation had not given domestic drinking water connections.

“If our genuine demand is not fulfilled, we'll stage a road roko continuously near the Tirunelveli Medical College Hospital,” the protestors also said.
