After making the police personnel work almost round the clock for more than two months ahead of the recently concluded Assembly elections, Superintendent of Police N. Manivannan surprised them hosting lunch to them.
A local restaurant reverberated with joy and laughter as about 300 police personnel, bidding adieu to their uniforms, turned up to enjoy the SP’s hospitality in return of their hard work during the elections.
Assistant Superintendents of Police S. Sarvesh Raj (Ramanathapuram), Shekar Deshmukh (Kamudhi), Additional Superintendent of Police Inbamani, who was in-charge of the elections, Deputy Superintendents of Police, Inspectors and Station House Officers were among those turned up for the lunch.
The menu had a long list of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes but most of the policemen swarmed the non-vegetarian block and enjoyed lip-smacking mutton and chicken biriyani, fish fry and other seafood.
“It was a token of gratitude and gesture of appreciation for the good work done by my colleagues,” Mr Manivannan said.
He would honour them with meritorious certificates in the crime meeting next week, he said.
