The Department of Health submitted its status report on the dengue related deaths in the State from September to December 2017. It said that out of the 15,589 reported cases, 46 died of dengue.

The department in its earlier counter affidavit had contested the claims made by the petitioner K.K. Ramesh that the Government had not taken appropriate action to control spread of dengue. The counter had said that steps were already initiated to control the spread of dengue.

Clinics and labs had been set up at government hospitals across the State and laboratories established for detecting dengue.

The counter had also said that public should also take initiatives to keep their surroundings clean and remove waste materials. They must take care that there are no waterlogging around their house, it stated.

Taking up the petition for hearing, a division bench of Justice M. Sathyanarayanan and R. Hemalatha sought a report on the compensation provided to the victims.
