The renovated slaughterhouse (meant for goats) in Nelpettai was inaugurated on Saturday.

Mayor V.V. Rajan Chellappa and Corporation Commissioner Kiran Gurrala inaugurated the slaughterhouse at Quaid-e-Milleth Nagar (ward 50), which was renovated at a cost of Rs.55.60 lakh.

Several facilities such as overhead water tank, roofing, a deep bore well, a paver block path, toilets and tiled walls have been provided at the slaughterhouse.

Urging the people engaged in slaughtering of animals to keep their place clean, the Mayor said the slaughterhouse at Anuppanadi was also being renovated.

Goats should be slaughtered only at these two places, a press release said.

R. Annadurai, MLA, R. Gopalakrishnan, Deputy Mayor, and A. Mathuram, City Engineer, were among those who participated in the inaugural function.
