Teachers’ deployment counselling based on actual requirements of Government schools in the district was held here on Friday with officials from the Department of School Education posting the existing subject teachers to schools where there is need.

The need based posts will be filled up and surplus teachers are being posted to other schools based on the data taken from Government schools. Officials have said that the guidelines of Right To Education Act on student-teacher ratio of 1:35 were being followed for this centralised counselling.

Teachers are deployed based on workload and need based. If a school was found to have more teachers for one subject, they get posted to another school which needs teachers to handle that particular subject, officials said.

The centralised counselling and redeployment of teachers was done based on the prescribed norms of the Government. In Madurai district, the process took place at O. C. P. M.Girls Higher Secondary School under the supervision of Chief Educational Officer S. Nagaraja Murugan.
