The Hindu - Newspaper in Education (NIE) Programme for the 2014-2015 academic year was launched in S.P.J. Matriculation Higher Secondary School here on Tuesday.

S. Asaithambi, regional manager of Central Bank of India, inaugurated the programme and delivered the special address.

He said that reading and saving were the two major habits that should be followed by every student. Mr. Asaithambi lauded the NIE initiative and said the programme motivated the students to take up the reading habit.

The Hindu ’s NIE initiative since 2004 has been implemented successfully for 10 years,” he said.

He urged the students to make good use of such programmes in school for a better future.

“Work towards accomplishing the visions of former President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam,” Mr. Asaithambi told the students.
