Provide stoppage

In the proposed extension of Tiruchi-Tirunelveli intercity express, a small station such as Manapparai has been given a stoppage, but Tirumangalam has been left out. I request the railway authorities to provide stoppage for the train at Tirumangalam to benefit a large number of passengers.

Devotees fleeced

Thousands of devotees visit Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple daily. At the public toilets near the temple, there are no board with details of usage charges for the urinal, toilet and bathroom. Hence, the tourists are fleeced by those running the toilets. The authorities should ensure display of charges in all the restrooms to make Madurai Meenakshi Temple a tourist-friendly place.

Growing crime

It was sad reading about the gruesome murder of a Plus Two student for his mobile phone. Nowadays, this mobile phone seizing crime is fast catching up with the chain snatching incidents that have almost become a routine in and around Madurai. Parents must desist from buying costly smartphones for their wards and instead get them basic models that have just calling and messaging facilities. Of course, these high-end mobiles may be used while at home. Children must be suitably advised to return home before it is too late at night.

Damaged road

The Marudhupandiar Street in Ward 8, paved with concrete 10 years ago, is badly damaged and the concrete is broken at several places. While streets branching out from here are laid with paver blocks, this street has been neglected. Vehicle users find hardship while crossing this potholes-filled street. It connects Burma Colony and East Vaithyanathapuram areas with Bridge Station Road (from Goripalayam to Koodal Nagar). I request the Corporation authorities to take up repair work on this street immediately.

Revision of train time

The Villupuram – Madurai passenger train can get more patronage if a small revision of timings is effected in such a way that it connects trains leaving from and arriving at Tiruchi junction from and to Thanjavur side. To cite a case, the up train reaching Tiruchi at 06.45 hours can provide a connection to Karaikal passenger train leaving at 06.10 hours by making a minor change in the arrival timing earlier or departure of Karaikal train later, as operationally feasible.
