The rath yatra, being taken out from Coimbatore through various places in the State to commemorate the 150 birth anniversary of Swami Vivekandanda, will reach the Ramakrishna Mutt at Reserve Line on the New Natham Road here on Monday.

The rath, carrying huge portraits of Swami Vivekananda and his messages, reached the Vivekananda College at Tiruvedagam near here on Sunday. It received a rousing reception at the college and nearby villages such as Vadipatti. A discourse on the life and teachings of Swami Vivekananda was arranged at the college later in the evening for the public, said the organisers.

On Monday, the rath will start from the college at 7.30 a.m. and is expected to reach the mutt by 10 a.m. Nearly 1,500 school students are expected to visit the mutt and view a photo-exposition of Swami Vivekananda and his books. Deputy Superintendent of Police V. Mayilvaganan will deliver an address on Swami Vivekananda at 10.45 a.m.

R. Srinivasan, professor of Sastra University, will speak on ‘Swami Vivekananda in Tamil Nadu.’

In the evening, the expo will be open for the public. Swami Kamalatmananda will give the presidential address. A special address will be given by Cooperation Minister Sellur K. Raju. Solomon Pappiah will give a special lecture on Swami Vivekananda, according to the organisers.
