Widespread rain lashed different parts of the district on Sunday.
Fisheries Department officials asked fishermen not to venture into sea for two days from Sunday and the Meteorological Department in Chennai asked fishermen to take care as rough weather was prevailing. The Thirparappu falls recorded heavy flow of rain water due to rain.
The maximum amount of rainfall of 24.8 mm was recorded in Thirparappu. The rainfall recorded in other areas was: 14.2 mm in Perunchani, 15.2 mm in Chittar 1, 20 mm in Chittar 11, 16.1 mm in Boothapandi, 16.4 mm in Surulode, 11.2 mm in Kannimar, 18 mm in Anaikidangu, 12.8 mm in Colachel, 23 mm in Adayamadai, 13.5 mm in Koziporvilai, 23 mm in Mullankinavilai, 21.3 mm in Balamore and 15.2 mm in Eraniel. The inflow into the Pechipparai dam was 547 cusecs and 692 cusecs in Perunchani.
Water level in the Pechipparai dam stood at 24.60 feet, 51.50 feet in Perunchani, 7.54 feet in Chittar I, 7.64 feet in Chittar II and 12.71 feet in the Mambazathuraiyaru dam.
