A total of 264 schools will host the practical examinations

The practical examination for Class X and XII students will commence on February 10.

According to officials of the School Education Department, a total of 36,601 candidates from Class XII will appear for the practical examinations at 89 centres in the three educational districts of Madurai, Usilampatti and Melur.

A total of 264 schools would host the practical examinations, the officials said. The tests would be conducted in two phases and would end by February 22.

In Madurai educational district, 18,440 candidates would appear for the practical examinations at 41 centres.

In Melur, 10,874 candidates would appear for the examinations at 27 centres.

In Usilampatti, 7,287 candidates would appear for the examinations at 21 centres, the officials added.

A total of 45,951 students from Class X in the three educational districts would appear for the practical examinations hosted by 450 schools at 123 centres.

A total of 21,498 candidates would appear for the practical examinations at 57 centres in Madurai, 14,234 candidates would appear for the practical tests at 38 centres in Melur and 10,219 candidates would appear for the practical tests at 28 centres in Usilampatti, they said.

The number of centres for the practical examinations had been increased this year over the number of centres arranged last year owing to the increase in the strength of the students, they added.

Speaking to The Hindu, Chief Educational Officer (CEO) C. Amuthavalli said, “There has been no power cut now. Therefore, we did not have to request the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (Tangedco) for uninterrupted power supply and there is no need to provide generator sets in the venues.”
