The District Crime Branch Police on Tuesday produced “Pottu” Suresh (alias) N. Suresh Babu before a Judicial Magistrate in a murder case here after a day's interrogation in their custody.
Avaniaapuram police had registered a murder case against Suresh Babu, a senior DMK functionary, who has been detained under Goondas Act and lodged in Palayamkottai on charges, including land grab.
Earlier, on Monday, after hearing the submission, judicial magistrate D. Sujatha of court No 6 granted permission for police custody. The police, investigating the murder of an auto rickshaw driver M. Pandiarajan, filed a petition seeking Suresh's custody. So far, 14 DMK men are in the list of accused in the murder of Pandiarajan which took place on April 16, 2009. The judicial custody of Suresh was extended till August 30.
