Inspector General and Commissioner of Police Sanjay Mathur planted saplings at the newly constructed residential quarters in the city on Saturday.

Police said that the houses built for inspectors of police and other officers on the New Natham Road, adjacent to Armed Reserve Grounds, would shortly be handed over to the allottees.

The Tamil Nadu Police Housing Corporation built the residential flats and the works had been completed.

In a bid to keep the sprawling campus clean and green, the initiative was taken up by the authorities. Around 100 saplings were planted in the area. Deputy Commissioners of Police R. Thirunavukkarasu, Jayalakshmi, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Armed Reserve) Somasundaram among other officers participated.
