Members from Travel Club of Madurai, Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce and Industry and other trade associations from Madurai held a meeting with the members of Tamil Association of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Dubai to discuss the need to have direct flights between the 27UAE and Madurai.
A press statement from the Travel Club said that operation of flights from Madurai to the UAE will facilitate foreign direct investment, rapid industrial growth in southern parts of Tamil Nadu, and will substantiate growth of tourism in the state. Members of numerous local Tamil associations in the UAE spoke about the difficulty in travelling from the UAE to Thiruvananthapuram, Chennai and Coimbatore from where they travel to their native places in southern Tamil Nadu.
