A woman pilgrim was killed on the spot when a van proceeding to Palani from Sabarimala knocked her down at Ayakudi on Friday.
The deceased Manickam (45) belonged to Vadaserrypatti in Alangulam block in Pudukottai district.
Police said that a van hit her while she was crossing the road to reach her temporary shelter at Ayakudi. She, along with 100 pilgrims, was going to Palani on foot for the Thai Poosam festival.
