PIL for solar panels

October 19, 2012 11:26 am | Updated 11:26 am IST - MADURAI

A public interest litigation petition has been filed in the Madras High Court Bench in Madurai seeking a direction to the State and Centre to distribute solar panels, photovoltaic cells and ancillary apparatus at subsidised rates to all family card holders in the State.

The petitioner, P. Natarajan of T. Uchapatti in Usilampatti Taluk near here, also sought for a direction to the State government to establish a separate ministry for new and renewable energy. He wanted the Rural Electrification Corporation to allocate a reasonable fund to augment power supply in rural pockets in the State.
