Passport Seva Kendra makes online payment mandatory

June 14, 2013 02:27 pm | Updated July 23, 2016 08:26 pm IST - MADURAI:

To enable speedy delivery of passports and make the process more reliable, the Passport Seva Kendras (PSK) in Madurai and Tirunelveli have made online payment of passport service fee mandatory from June 14.

A release said a large number of people who had fixed online appointments were failing to show up for the interviews. Now that the service fee payment has been made mandatory, applicants can schedule an appointment only after the fee is paid.

The online payment systems for booking appointments can be accessed at >www.passportindia.gov.in . Applicants can pay by credit or debit card or use the State Bank of India online banking option. Applicants can also use the Challan option and deposit money in a SBI branch. Upon receiving confirmation of payment receipt from SBI online banking, the appointment can be booked.

Instead of the applicant choosing the date, time and appointment slot, the earliest available appointment will automatically be generated and allotted. Appointments can be rescheduled up to two times. This system is not applicable for people who have already fixed appointments. For more queries, the National Passport Call centre can be contacted at 1800 258 1800.
