Several companies of paramilitary forces have arrived in Madurai district to be deployed in all the 10 Assembly constituencies for the May 16 Assembly elections.

The forces include Border Security Force, Central Industrial Security Force, Indo-Tibetan Border Police and Railway Protection Force.

The central force personnel began area domination activities in Usilampatti, Uthapanaickanur and Vickramangalam, Superintendent of Police Vijayendra Bidari said.

He added that a list of trouble mongers had been given to the forces, who would watch their activities. Besides, they would familiarise with the routes in the constituency in a systematic way. They would also be involved in vehicle checks.

They would carry out flag marches in their areas as part of confidence building measure among voters, Mr. Bidari said.
