Keeping the tradition and spirit of service alive, officials of ‘INS Parundu’, the Indian Naval Air Station at Uchipuli, have donated provisions and essentials to Sri Ramanathaswamy orphanage home in Rameswaram.

Volunteers of the naval community visited the orphanage recently and donated large quantities of etables, dry provisions, clothes and stationery to the inmates, who included about 50 young girls, a release from naval station said.

The officials interacted with the inmates, caretaker and staff of the orphanage and emphasised the need for education and financial independence. The woman officers motivated the girls to join the Navy after passing out school education and clearing written examinations.

The children of the orphanage welcomed the naval team with group songs. The children also showcased their talents. The visit was organised as part of the ongoing Navy Week celebrations and Navy Day celebration, scheduled for December 4.
