The Madras High Court Bench in Madurai on Thursday directed the Inspectors of Sathankulam, Kulasekarapattinam and Meignanapuram police stations in Tuticorin district to consider a representation made by Hindu Makkal Katchi seeking protection for installing idols of Lord Ganesha in various places between September 19 and 23 and also for a procession from Udangudi to the seashore in Kulasekarapattinam in view of Vinayagar Chathurthi.

Stating that he was passing the orders without expressing any opinion on the merits of the case, Justice R. Sudhakar said the police officers should take a decision in one way or the other after considering all aspects including the law and order situation.
