Members of the public may apply for new ration card online. Application forms are available on www.tnpds.gov.in ., according to Collector T.G. Vinay.
In a press release here on Sunday, he said that smart cards would be issued to 5.81 lakh cardholders from April 1. Smart cards would be distributed to the existing cardholders at schools and community halls near respective ration shops.
Date and time of distribution of smart cards would be displayed in front of the ration shops. The cardholders should produce old cards to receive new cards, he added.
Those who wanted new cards could apply online. Applicants could fill in the form and attach scanned documents like residential proof and Aadhaar card and submit it. Taluk Supply Officer would scrutinise the form. Cardholders could also make corrections if any like change of name and address in the card online, he pointed out.
