The district police have introduced one-way traffic on the roads on either side of the PWD channel connecting Iyer Bungalow with Anaiyur.

The change in traffic has been implemented following a series of accidents, especially involving mini-buses, at Uchchaparambu Medu.

After the eviction of encroachments and clearance of bushes from the roads, the vehicles have got wider carriage way, Superintendent of Police V.Balakrishnan said in a statement issued here.

The police have also made arrangements to keep shops away from the roads during the weekly vegetable shandy so that vehicular traffic was not disrupted.

The police personnel have appealed to the people to cooperate with the new traffic arrangement.
