The district police have arrested one more person for the attack on Manamadurai AIADMK MLA M.Gunasekaran at Manamadurai.

Superintendent of Police Ashwin M.Kotnis said Ajith Kumar, who was part of the gang, was arrested on Saturday.

Three special teams had been formed to nab Logesh, the main accused and his accomplice Bala, he said.

Hours after the incident on Friday, K. Karthik (20), S. Sasikumar (25) and M.Karthik (23), all hailing from Manamadurai, were arrested.

The SP said the removal of Logesh’s house in a drive against encroachments was the motive behind the attack. The MLA was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Madurai and his condition stated to be stable, sources said. He is likely to be discharged in three days since his injuries are not serious, hospital sources said.

He was shifted from Government Rajaji Hospital to Meenakshi Mission Hospital on Friday. The Revenue Minister R.B. Udhayakumar visited him at the hospital.
