Officials briefed on counting procedure

A training programme was held at the District Collectorate to discuss procedures to be followed during the counting of votes for the six Assembly segments in the Madurai Parliamentary Constituency here on Monday.

The counting of votes polled for the 16th Lok Sabha Elections will take place on May 16 on the Madurai Medical College premises where the Electronic Voting Machines have been stored in strongrooms.

“There will be 14 tables for each Assembly segment on which the counting of votes will take place. Each table will have one Micro-observer and one assistant who will oversee the counting process,” Returning Officer for the Madurai Parliamentary Constituency and District Collector L. Subramanian said.

Supervisors, Assistants and Micro-observers who would be involved in the counting of votes were asked to go about the process carefully and to be calm and alert.
