New Passport Officer (Mdu Region) takes charge

MADURAI: T. Arun Prasad, a 2008 batch of Indian Economic Service (IES), has taken charge as Regional Passport Officer (Madurai Region) here on Friday from Maniswara Raja, who has been transferred on promotion to his parent department as Conservator (Environment & Forests), Gujarat.

Prior to the new posting, Mr. Arun Prasad had served as Deputy Passport Officer, RPO, Chennai. He served as Assistant Director, Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Environment & Forests, New Delhi. In 2013, he was promoted as DD and posted in Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.

A post-graduate in Agricultural Economics, he has administrative experience in finance, environmental economics and agricultural markets.

Later, he held a meeting with the officers and also enquired about the functioning of the Passport Seva Kendra in Madurai city and Tirunelveli respectively, officials said. Under the Madurai RPO, nine districts - Theni, Dindigul, Madurai, Virudhunagar, Sivaganga, Ramanathapuram, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi and Kanyakumari were covered. Till Nov 15, 2017, the RPO had issued 2.48 lakh passports.
