New Corporation Commissioner assumes office

S. Natarajan, a 1998-batch of Indian Administrative Service officer, is the new Commissioner of Madurai Corporation.

He took over charge from the out-going Commissioner, S. Sebastine, on Wednesday.

Mr. Natarajan said that his priority would be on the health and cleanliness front. His immediate focus would be on pre-monsoon precautionary works, he said.

He would take efforts to maintain the financial stability of the local body and conduct of the ensuing local body elections in a fair and peaceful manner.

Mr. Natarajan, joined the State civil services in 1983 as a Deputy Collector and served in different parts of the State in various capacities.

Mr. Natarajan was the Special Personal Assistant to the Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa.

Mr. Natarajan was the Deputy Secretary and Joint Secretary at the Chief Minister's Office.

Previous to the present posting, Mr. Natarajan was the Commissioner for Disciplinary Proceedings in Madurai.
