Two Additional Superintendents of Police — M. Karthikeyan and S. Marirajan — have urged the Madras High Court Bench here to delete their names from a public interest litigation petition filed by a lawyer seeking a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into two explosions reported at Nelpettai near here on November 20, 2013, and March 14 this year.

Filing a joint counter affidavit, in the case pending before Justice R. Subbiah on Tuesday, the two police officers attached to the Crime Branch-Criminal Investigation Department’s Special Investigation Team, denied the allegation levelled against them that they were creating stumbling blocks in the investigation carried out by the local police in cases related to bomb explosions.

Justice R. Subbiah adjourned the case till Thursday after hearing arguments advanced by their counsel G.R. Swaminathan and W. Peter Ramesh Kumar, appearing for the PIL petitioner, A. Syed Abdul Kathar, who had levelled various allegations against the two officers.
