P. Nedumaran, president of Ulaga Tamil Peramaippu Trust, was granted anticipatory bail by the Madras High Court bench here on Wednesday, in a case registered by the Thanjavur police under the Public Nuisance Act.

In his petition, Mr. Nedumaran claimed that the inspector of the Thanjavur taluk police station had booked him under Section 3 (1) of the Public Nuisance Act on the charges of using loudspeakers after 10 p.m. for three days, from November 8 to November 10, during the inaugural function of the Mullivaikal Martyrs Memorial at Villar. Mr. Nedumaran denied the charges against him and pleaded for grant of the anticipatory bail. Justice C.T. Selvam granted him the bail without imposing any conditions on Wednesday.
