September 23, 2013 08:29 am | Updated June 02, 2016 02:24 pm IST - MADURAI:

Irate people torched a tipper lorry that was involved in a road accident in which two motorists were killed near Samayanallur on Sunday afternoon.

However, the red soil-laden truck has partial damage as a fire tender quickly put out the flames.

The police said that P. Rajadurai (24), and K. Diliban (26) of Oormacheri near Samayanallur were proceeding towards Madurai on a two-wheeler. When Rajadurai attempted to overtake the truck, the bike was hit by the lorry near the private power house at around 12.30 p.m. While Rajadurai was killed on the spot, Diliban died on the way to the hospital. The lorry driver had fled from the scene. Fire tender doused the flames.
