The Communist Party of India (Marxist) MLA, R. Annadurai, has sought usage of the MRI scan facility at the Government Rajaji Hospital round-the-clock in order to benefit of accident victims.

Memorandum sent

In a memorandum sent to the Chief Secretary, the MLA representing Madurai South Assembly constituency said that the scan facility was under repair and scanning of head was not possible for the last one year. Only after the MLA’s intervention, the snag was set right and it was functioning between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. every day.

Victims of accidents who were brought to the Government Rajaji Hospital after 6 p.m. had to wait till 9 a.m. the next day for getting their body scanned for further treatment.

“With the delay in starting treatment, victims have on a few occasions have succumbed to injuries,” he said.

Besides, appealing to make the scan facility available 24-hours, he wanted the Government to fill vacancies in the hospital.
