Hundreds of AIADMK party cadre celebrated the merger of the two factions of their party by bursting crackers and distributing sweets to passersby and bus passengers in different places in Dindigul and Theni districts on Monday.

In Dindigul, AIADMK cadre distributed sweets to passengers travelling in buses near MGR statue and at the Kamarajar central bus stand.

Supporters of both factions burst crackers before the MGR statue and raised slogans in support of their leaders. Similar celebrations took place in other parts of the district also.

In Theni, the party cadre distributed sweets near the Theni old bus stand and near Nehru statue late noon. Cadre in Andipatti and Periyakulam towns also celebrated the merger in a grand manner.

The merger resulted in mixed reaction in Virudhunagar district, with a section of the ruling party men celebrating in Aruppukottai and another section burning the effigy of party leader, O. Pannerselvam.

Scores of AIADMK men, led by Mr. Pannerselvam supporter, Ismail, burst crackers and distributed sweets at Aruppukottai bus stand. However, the former Minister, R. Inbathamilan, a supporter of the party’s sidelined deputy general secretary, T.T.V. Dhinakaran, burnt the effigy of Mr. Pannerselvam at Srivilliputtur.
