Facility to have firing range, helipad and mountaineering facility

Minister for Sports and Youth Welfare S. Sundarraj inspected the ongoing construction of a training centre for National Cadet Corps (NCC) at Idayapatti near here on Friday.

The centre, announced by Chief Minister Jayalalithaa in the Assembly under Rule 110, is being constructed at a cost of Rs. 12.63 crore.

According to an official press release, the centre will house all infrastructure facilities required for cadets who come for training.

It will have a firing range, a helipad and mountaineering facility.

Those who accompanied the Minister in the inspection included Rajendrakumar, Secretary, Sports and Youth Welfare; Pradeep Yadav, Member-Secretary, Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu; L. Subramanian, Madurai Collector, and Commodore Vijesh K. Garg, Deputy Director General, NCC.
