Mayor advises residents on dengue prevention

Mayor V.V. Rajan Chellappa held a dengue prevention camp in Ward 46 (Lourdu Nagar in Zone-2) in the city on Wednesday.

He inspected various residential areas in the ward and sought public cooperation to prevent possible dengue spread.

The corporation had been conducting special camps to create awareness on prevention of dengue and teams had been formed in each zone for mosquito control activity and garbage removal.

30 teams

For Lourdu Nagar area, the corporation had formed 30 teams to undertake sanitation and hygiene activities.

Mr. Rajan Chellappa told the residents to be careful about the water they drank and keep the containers closed.

Water tanks in houses should be cleaned regularly, he advised.

Later, he inspected a few roadside shops where snacks preferred most by children were being sold.

A. Palanisamy, Assistant Commissioner, Zone-2, ward councillors, health wing officials and sanitary inspectors were also present.
