A 23-year-old woman, a mother of two children, was allegedly branded with hot ladle by her alcoholic husband in Oomachikulam on Thursday night, as she could not give him money for buying liquor.
The woman, S. Kalaivani, working in a jewellery shop, has been admitted to the GRH with serious burn injuries.
The Oomachikulam police have registered a case against her husband G. Sivakumar, an auto driver.
On Thursday night, Sivakumar demanded money from her for buying liquor. A quarrel erupted between them as Kalaivani could not give him any money. He branded her with a hot steel ladle on her face, chin, hand and back.
The police are on the lookout for Sivakumar.
