A 38-year-old man, J. Senthil Kumar, who was a butcher, sexually abused his niece, a minor, repeatedly under the threat of murdering her or his wife (the girl’s aunt), and the girl became pregnant.
Police arrested the man under the provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012. He was remanded in judicial custody.
The police said the girl, who had been brought up by her mother, had been living near her aunt’s (mother’s younger sister) house. When the girl’s mother and aunt had gone out for construction work, the man threatened the girl with a butcher’s knife and allegedly sexually assaulted her.
Later, he allegedly started sexually assaulting the girl, on the threat that he would murder his wife if the girl protested. Meanwhile, the girl, who was studying SSLC, dropped out of school. One of her aunts found some changes in her body, and inquired with her. The girl revealed everything to her aunt.
Based on a complaint lodged by the girl’s mother, All Woman Police (North) arrested the man.
