Madurai schools score cent per cent pass in CBSE Class XII results

All the schools in Madurai have recorded hundred percent pass in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class XII examination, the results of which were declared on Monday.

V. Srivatshan, a student of Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV), Narimedu, in the city, has emerged as the topper in Madurai with a score of 481 marks. A student of commerce stream, Mr. Srivatshan got 98 marks in Mathematics and Business each, and 95 in Economics, Accountancy and English each.

“I did not follow any strategy to score high and kept myself calm by reading novels. I studied for a maximum of four hours a day,” said the student, who aspires to be a chartered accountant. His parents M.S. Venkatesan, an LIC agent, and R. Kothaimani, a teacher of Mathematics at KV, said they were very happy.

A. Harisankar, a student of the same school, came second in Madurai with 479 marks. He has scored 99 in Chemistry and 95 in Physics, English, Mathematics and Computer Science each. B. Karthikesh of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Tirupparankundram, came third with 477 marks in Commerce stream.

A total of 188 students from three schools – KV- Narimedu, KV-Tirupparankundram and Mahatma Montessori School – had written the examinations in Madurai and all of them have passed.

The students have performed better than last year, the school authorities said.

C. Muthiah, Principal of KV Narimedu, said, “This is the first time in eight years that our school has secured 100 per cent pass. The performance index has also increased from 69 last year to 78 this year.”

R. Geetha Kumari, Principal of KV in Tirupparankundram, also said the students had shown great improvement in performance compared to last year. “Last year the performance index (PI) of our students was 75.69. This year it is 79.9,” she told The Hindu .

Mahatma Montessori School had its first batch of 30 Class XII students appearing for the examinations this year, and R. Sundarapriya has scored the highest in the school with 473 marks in commerce stream.
